NOC code finder: find your NOC 2021 code by job title
Type the job title you had. We search all 516 NOC 2021 occupations and nearly 28,000 official example titles, then show the code, its TEER category and whether it counts as skilled work for Express Entry.
How to pick the right NOC code
- Search by the title you actually held, then by one or two common variants (“developer”, “programmer”).
- Open the closest results and read the main duties. IRCC asks you to make sure the duties match what you did at your job, not just the title.
- Check the TEER. For Express Entry’s Federal Skilled Worker and Canadian Experience Class programs, the work must be TEER 0, 1, 2 or 3.
- Check the “Not in this group” list on the page. It names neighbouring codes that are easy to confuse.

Frequently asked questions
What is a NOC code?
The National Occupational Classification (NOC) is Canada’s standard list of occupations, maintained by Statistics Canada and Employment and Social Development Canada. NOC 2021 gives every occupation a five-digit code: the first digit is the broad occupational category and the second digit is the TEER category.
What is the difference between NOC 2016 and NOC 2021?
NOC 2021 moved from four-digit to five-digit codes and replaced the old skill levels (0, A, B, C, D) with six TEER categories (0 to 5). Immigration programs have used NOC 2021 since November 2022, so old four-digit codes need to be matched to their new five-digit code.
Which TEER categories count for Express Entry?
For the Federal Skilled Worker and Canadian Experience Class programs, IRCC requires skilled work experience in TEER 0, 1, 2 or 3.
How do I know I picked the right NOC code?
Read the main duties on the code’s page. IRCC asks you to make sure they match what you actually did at your job; the job title alone isn’t enough. If most duties don’t match, try a related code.
Is this tool official?
No. It searches Statistics Canada’s published NOC 2021 Version 1.0 data, but OfferJetAI is not affiliated with the Government of Canada. Confirm your code on IRCC’s “Find your NOC” page before you submit an application.
