Jobscan alternatives in 2026: 4 tools tested side-by-side

We bought Teal, Rezi, Kickresume, and Jobscan for a month and ran identical jobs through each. Here's the honest verdict — including where each one beats us and where it doesn't.

Jobscan vs Teal vs Rezi vs Kickresume vs OfferJetAI compared

If you've Googled "Jobscan alternative" recently, you're probably staring at the same problem we did: $50 USD per month for a tool that gives you an ATS score but doesn't actually rewrite your resume. So you bolt on Teal for the tracker. Then Rezi for the AI. Then maybe Kickresume for the templates. By month-end you're paying $108 USD/month — about $148 CAD — for a stitched-together workflow that still asks you to copy-paste between four tabs.

We thought there had to be a better answer. So we bought all four for a month, ran the same Data Analyst job at a Canadian fintech through each one, and recorded what we got. This is the honest write-up — including where competitors beat us, because pretending otherwise would make this post useless.

The methodology

  • Test job: Senior Data Analyst at a Canadian fintech, posted within the last 7 days. Real JD with 24 distinct keyword features.
  • Test profile: Real resume, 4 years experience, mix of generic and JD-relevant skills.
  • Expected output: A tailored resume + a cover letter + an ATS score against that specific JD.
  • What we measured: time to output, quality of rewrites (rated against the JD's actual emphasis), and whether the workflow felt like one tool or like a stack of disconnected widgets.

We ran each tool fresh — no pre-loaded profile, no shortcuts — to simulate what a new user actually experiences.

The comparison at a glance

ToolPrice (USD/mo)Resume rewriteCover letterATS scoreJob trackerOutreachSalary tools
Jobscan$49.95⚠️ Limited🏆 Best in class
Teal$29🏆 Best in class
Rezi$29
Kickresume$19⚠️ Weakest⚠️
OfferJetAI$14 (≈$19 CAD)✅ + batch (5 at once)

Now the per-tool teardowns.

Jobscan: best ATS scoring, worst workflow

Jobscan's ATS analysis is the most accurate of any tool we tested. They've spent years matching their scoring model against real ATS parsers (Workday, Greenhouse, iCIMS) and it shows — when Jobscan says your resume hits 85%, it really does parse cleanly through most enterprise systems.

But that's where the value ends. Jobscan does not generate a tailored resume. It tells you what's missing, hands you a list of keywords, and asks you to do the rewriting yourself. That's fine for senior candidates who can self-edit confidently. For most job seekers, it's a $50/mo homework assignment.

Pick Jobscan if: You're a senior IC who already writes well and just needs a verification pass on each application. You'll get the most rigorous score in the market and you don't need help with the actual writing.

Skip Jobscan if: You want the tool to do the work for you, or you're applying to more than 3-4 roles per week (the per-application time cost adds up fast).

Teal: best tracker, AI rewrites are just OK

Teal's Chrome extension is the slickest in the category. You're on a LinkedIn job page, you click the Teal button, the job lands in your tracker. The Kanban board is well-designed and we use it as a reference for what good job-tracker UX looks like.

Where Teal falls short: the AI rewrites. Teal's resume-tailoring output reads like a polished version of a generic resume, not a JD-specific one. It surfaces some keywords, but it doesn't restructure your bullets to match what the JD actually emphasizes. For a senior role where the recruiter is comparing you against 200 other tailored resumes, "polished generic" gets filtered out.

Pick Teal if: You love a great tracker, you're applying to lots of roles, and you're comfortable doing your own resume rewriting in the editor. The Chrome extension alone justifies the price for high-volume applicants.

Skip Teal if: You want the AI to do real, JD-specific rewriting work. It won't.

Rezi: fast and clean, no surrounding workflow

Rezi is what Jobscan would be if Jobscan generated the resume. Fast input, clean output, decent ATS scoring on its own platform. The interface is minimalist — no clutter, no upsells, just resume in / resume out.

The problem is what's missing: no job tracker, no cover-letter generator that matches the resume's tone, no recruiter outreach, nothing for the rest of the job-search workflow. You'd need to bolt on 2-3 other tools, and at that point you're paying more than a single all-in-one would cost.

Pick Rezi if: You already have a job tracker (Notion, Airtable, etc.), you don't need cover letters, and you just want a clean, fast resume builder for $29/mo.

Skip Rezi if: You want anything beyond resume generation.

Kickresume: prettiest templates, weakest AI

Kickresume's design is the strongest visual offering of the group — they have ~20 polished templates, the editor is pleasant to use, and the export PDFs look great in a recruiter's inbox.

Two problems. First, several of those pretty templates use multi-column layouts and graphic icons that ATS systems can't parse cleanly — you'll get rejected before a human sees the design. Second, the AI rewriter is the weakest of the four; it adds buzzwords without restructuring content for the specific JD.

Pick Kickresume if: You're applying to design-forward roles where the resume itself is treated as a portfolio piece (creative agencies, smaller startups), and you'll do the rewriting yourself.

Skip Kickresume if: You need ATS-parseable output or you want the AI to do real JD-tailoring work.

Where OfferJetAI fits — and where it doesn't

We built OfferJetAI to be the single subscription that replaces the stack. One tool: tailored resume + matching cover letter + ATS scoring + job tracker + recruiter outreach + interview prep + LinkedIn audit + salary simulator. CAD pricing, no FX surprise.

What we do better than the competitors:

  • Batch tailor. Paste 5 JDs, click one button, get 5 tailored resumes in 30 seconds. No competitor does this. The 12-second clip above is the actual flow at real speed.
  • Recruiter outreach generator. Generates a personalized intro message to the hiring manager for each application — the highest-leverage move in modern job search and not addressed by Jobscan, Teal, or Rezi at all.
  • Salary negotiation simulator. Premium tier includes an interactive simulator (Claude plays the recruiter, you practice). No competitor offers this.
  • CAD pricing. $19/mo Pro vs $40-68 CAD for the alternatives. Real difference for unemployed job seekers.

What we do worse:

  • ATS scoring rigor. Jobscan's scoring is more conservative and matched against more ATS vendors. We're improving this, but if absolute ATS-score precision is your priority, Jobscan is still the gold standard.
  • Template variety. We ship a smaller set of templates than Kickresume. Our position: a few templates that always parse cleanly is better than 20 that may not.
  • Chrome extension. Teal's extension is better than ours today. We're working on it.

How to pick

Three quick decision rules:

  1. You're applying to 1-3 roles a week and want certainty on ATS score: Jobscan. The deepest ATS scoring justifies the price for low-volume applicants.

  2. You're applying to 5+ roles a week and want a full workflow: OfferJetAI Pro ($19 CAD/mo) or Premium ($39 CAD/mo) for batch. Saves the stack cost and the time cost.

  3. You're a designer or creative who needs portfolio-quality templates: Kickresume + a separate ATS checker.

If you want to test our take on it, the OfferJetAI free plan gives you 2 tailored resumes per month — enough to compare against whatever you're using now without changing anything else in your workflow. No credit card.

Frequently asked questions

Is OfferJetAI cheaper than Jobscan?

Yes — significantly. OfferJetAI Pro is $19 CAD/month (about $14 USD), versus Jobscan's $49.95 USD/month (~$68 CAD). For Canadian users that's a 4-5x price difference, and you get a much broader feature set in exchange. The free plan covers 2 tailored resumes per month if you only apply to a few high-priority roles.

Can OfferJetAI replace my Jobscan + Teal + Rezi stack?

For most use cases, yes. OfferJetAI bundles resume tailoring, ATS scoring, cover letter generation, job tracking, and recruiter outreach in a single subscription. The one place a stacked workflow still wins: if you need Jobscan's exact ATS scoring rigor (it's matched against more vendors than any other tool), you'd keep Jobscan as a verification layer and use OfferJetAI for everything else.

What's the catch on the free plan?

No catch. 2 tailored resumes per month, ATS scoring, basic templates, no credit card. The free plan is real — about 70% of users stay on it the full month. Pro and Premium exist for people applying at higher volume (10+ apps per week) who hit the cap.

Does OfferJetAI work for non-tech roles?

Yes. We see strong usage from marketing, finance, ops, sales, and consulting candidates. The tailoring layer doesn't care about industry — it learns the JD's vocabulary and surfaces matching content from your profile. If you're applying to a role that has structured JDs (most professional roles), it works.

How is this different from using ChatGPT to tailor my resume?

ChatGPT can produce a tailored resume if you prompt it carefully (paste JD + paste resume + structured instruction). The friction is repetition — you'd write that prompt 5 times for 5 jobs. OfferJetAI does the same prompting work but in batch, with built-in guardrails (no fabricated experience, ATS-clean PDF output, scoring loop that regenerates weak sections).

Is the data my resume contains kept private?

Yes. Resume data isn't used to train models, isn't shared with third parties, and is encrypted at rest. Hosted on Supabase (Canadian data residency available on enterprise plans).

Why CAD pricing instead of USD?

We're a Canadian company building primarily for the Canadian market first. CAD billing means no FX surprise on your statement and no exchange-rate premium on top of the sticker price.
